Some men who abuse their partners, ex-partners or family members blame them for causing it to happen. They say it’s their partner or ex-partner’s fault that they lost control, shouted or smashed things, withheld money for spending, or shut them off from their family and friends. Rather than taking responsibility for their own actions, they blame others for their abusive behaviour. But being abusive is a choice. It’s not caused by anyone else. And people who are abusive need to take responsibility for their behaviour. If any of this sounds familiar, the Men’s Referral Service can help.
